Buddhist saying
Ayurveda is a traditional holistic healing method from India and Sri Lanka.
In Hindu mythology, the deity Dhanvantari is regarded as the doctor of the gods and the father of all medicine.
Ayurveda is derived from Indian medicine. It has a long tradition and many people still practise it in India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Ayurveda literally translated means “life wisdom” or “knowledge of life”. The expression comes from Sanskrit. It is made up of the two words Ayus (life) and Veda (knowledge). So this wisdom or knowledge of life is a combination of philosophy and experience. It concentrates on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of life that are important for determining sickness or health in people.
